Industrial Microwaves: Magnetron Tubes vs. Solid State
Historically, every microwave heating device, from a home microwave oven to a large industrial microwave system, has been powered by a magnetron tube. They have been around since the 1940s, and have remained functionally the same ever since. But many say that solid state is the microwave technology of the future, especially when it comes to drying and thermal processing applications in food, biomass, drying and laboratory use. That’s because magnetrons, while highly efficient in converting electric power into microwave energy, also have many disadvantages when compared to solid state microwave technology.

Crescend Technologies announces the expansion of our mobile amplifier portfolio with the release of UHF and 700/800 MHz, 50 watt mobiles. These amplifiers cover the 403-512 and 764-870 MHz bands and can be ordered now through our distribution partners, or direct to Crescend. These units are bi-directional, with an amplifier on the Tx side and a bypass on the Rx.
